Music Big Medicine is "the" rock band for Taos Pueblo. The Big Medicine Band has been known to play and tour throughout the United States as well as Mexico. The Big Medicine Band originated in Taos, New Mexico, in 1979. The band is known to use an Indian flute, the ke'kwa-ge-ka, and a traditional flute, the nácua. The band's name comes from a 18th-century 18th-century medicine man named Manumalo, who said: "The medicine is big, the medicine is good. Big medicine, good medicine."
